                                                                 Medical Qigong

This highly effective ancient Chinese health care system has been developed for thousands of years, empowering self healing, improving our immune system and vitality, while calming the mind, increasing intuition and our creative power.

The gentle movements are designed to move energy through our meridian system with an emphasis on combining coordinated breathing techniques, sound vibration, visualization, and mindful intent while drawing energy from the natural forces of the Universe.

Qigong is a powerful and enjoyable way to enhance health, suitable for all ages.  By definition, Qi (Chi) means “life energy” and gong pronounced "gung", means accomplishment or skill that is cultivated through steady practice.

"What I love about Qigong, is everyone derives an immediate benefit from the very beginning and those benefits increase in proportion with regular practice."

The concept of a life force is found in most of the ancient cultures of the world and has been written about and studied for over ten thousand years. Our vital energy has been called by many names throughout history.

For these cultures and others as well,the idea of life force is central to their forms of medicine and healing.

  • China it's called; chi or qi

  • Japan; ki

  • India; prana

  • Hawaii; mana;

  • Egyptians referred to it as; ka

  • Hebrew, ruach

  • and in Greece; pneuma.

The balance of Yin and Yang (male and female, positive and negative, electromagnetic energy) which flows through everything in creation, is the foundation of many health and fitness practices, which include but are not limited to;

  • Traditional Chinese Medicine

  • Qigong

  • Acupuncture

  • Acupressure

  • Ayurvedic Medicine

  • Yoga

  • Tai Chi

  • Reiki

  • Feng Shu

  • and Massage.

By cultivating Chi all aspects of our well-being benefit, including strengthening our immune system, overcoming illnesses, improving our concentration, coordination, intuition and our longevity.

Qigong is a holistic path to well being; in modern China is often called yang sheng, “ the art of nurturing life” cultivating the physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual aspects of our life.

Qigong has been found to have countless health benefits such as increasing core strength, blood flow, bone density, enzyme activity, serum lipid levels and cardiovascular health.  It reduces stress, and risk of stroke, greatly improves asthma, and has anti-cancer and anti-aging effects.

Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center / Integrative Therapies Program / by Katherine Gallagher (p.7)

states, "Clinical studies have found that Qigong positively affects psychological and emotional symptoms including anxiety, mood, depression and quality of life. Qigong also help decrease physical symptoms such as pain, numbness, dizziness, fatigue, and inflammation."

Athletes enjoy Qigong because it improves strength, stamina, coordination, and other skills necessary for peak performance.

As a spiritual art, it deepens awareness of self and nature and creates a feeling of harmony, tranquility, and peace.

Spiritual Qigong is not the quest to have a metaphysical or transcendental experience.  It's the practice of mindfulness,

a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you carefully observe your thoughts and feelings without judging them good or bad.  It means living in the moment and awakening to your current experience, internally and externally.

Qigong has had a wonderful impact in my life, so much so, I decided to change careers and share what I have learned, in hopes it will make a difference in your life as well.

Research has also found regular Qigong training will;

  • Induce alpha and theta brain waves which reduce heart rate and blood pressure

  • Alter your neurochemistry profile moderating pain, depression and addictive cravings

  • Optimize the efficiency of your immune system through increased rate and flow of the lymphatic fluid

  • Strengthen your endocrine system with a positive effect on intuition, mood and sleep

  • Increase the efficiency of cell metabolism and tissue regeneration

  • Coordinate right/left brain hemisphere dominance promoting mental clarity

  • Achieve a deeper sense of well-being, emotional stability and balance

  • Become empowered to attract positive changes into your life as you increase your life-force energy.
